Cristiano Ronaldo |
Ronaldo is the player who is often ranked as the greatest player of this age by some great in the sports world and was named the best Portuguese player of all time by the Portuguese Football Federation, at the time of its 100th years of anniversary celebrations.
Earleir life:
Ronaldo was born in Santo António, the youngest child of Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro and José Dinis Aveiro. He joined Sporting's other youth players who trained at the Academia Sporting, the club's football academy, in Alcochete.
But many of us don’t know that at the age of 15 Cristiano was diagnosed with a racing heart, a condition which forced him to give up playing football.
"His heart raced a lot when he wasn't running," Dolores Aveiro, mother of Ronaldo later revealed. "They used a sort of laser to cauterize the source of the problem."
But this lad was back on the field after few days of the surgery and now ruling the field of Real Madrid with his charismatic football skills.
One thing you don' know is that, it was Ronaldo's mother who called him a cry-baby at first.
Do you know??
Ronaldo was the first ever to play for Sporting's under-16,17, 18, B-team, and the first team, all within one season . In his debut at 7th Oct in 2002 he scored two goals and his team Sporting CP won 3–0 against Moreirense.
In November 2002, Ronaldo got invitation to join Arsenal's training ground, London Colney to meet manager Arsène Wenger and his coaching staff. Wenger, showed his interest in signing the talented midfielder and had arranged to meet Ronaldo's representatives, in the following month to discuss a transfer arrangement of a possible move to Liverpool. Ronaldo said "Liverpool is one of the best clubs in England and it would be a dream for any player to represent a club of such traditions". However, he came to the attention of Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson in the middle of 2003, when Sporting defeated United 3–1 in the inauguration of the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon. Ronaldo's performance impressed the United players, who urged Ferguson to sign him.
And one more thing is that Ronaldo was the first Portuguese player who signed in Man U and it was £12.24 million.
One thing you don't know is that Ronaldo was given the 7 no jersey by Alex but he had requested for 28, the jersey number of Sporting CP as he didn’t want to get the pressure of living up to the expectation linked to the number 7 shirt, which had previously been worn by United legends such as George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona and no need to say David Beckham. The jersey was an extra motivation. "I was forced to live up to such an honor."
And the rest is just story..!
It is true that some Spanish team wanted him in the season of 2006-07 and Ronaldo also said that he always wanted to join in Spain but he was kept in the EPL under the terms of Sir Ferguson as he told that,
And, the season proved to be a breakout for Ronaldo and picked up his first league title with Manchester United. But his first team coach René Meulensteen played an important factor in this success by one-to-one training. René was the man to coach him in moves to make himself more unpredictable.“No doubt that Ronadlo will be the player of our next season”
Ronaldo stat between MAN U and R Madrid |
Ronaldo finished the season with a career-high 42 goals in all competitions, four short of Denis Law's team-record mark of 46 in the 1963–64 season. Ronaldo's 31 goals haul was rewarded him as the first winger to win the 2007–08 European Golden Shoe, finishing eight points ahead of Mallorca's Dani Güiza.
Real Madrid:
Man u fans had to let him go as Real Madrid confirmed that Ronaldo will join the club in 1 July 2009; from Manchester United for a world record transfer fee of £80 million (€94 million) at a six year contract. Ronaldo made his Madrid debut on 21 July in a 1–0 win over Shamrock Rovers. His first goal came a week later with a penalty in Madrid's 4–2 win over LDU Quito.
And then records were ready to be broken.
He broke a Madrid club record when he scored in a league match against Villarreal and thus became the first ever player to score in his first four La Liga appearances.
On 17 August 2011, Ronaldo scored his 100th goal with Real Madrid with a first-half equalizer against Barcelona in the second leg of the 2011 Spanish Super cup in the Camp Nou. On 27 August 2011, he opened the 2011–12 La Liga season with a hat-trick in a 6–0 win at Real Zaragoza. And thus ended the season winning first First La Liga title.
2012–13: Fastest to reach 200 goals for Madrid
Ronaldo started the season by lifting the Supercopa de España with Madrid, scoring two goals in a 4–4 away goals aggregate win against Barcelona. The goal in the first leg made him the first Madrid player in the history of El Clásico to score for the fourth game in a row at the Camp Nou, with the winning goal in the second leg, Ronaldo did equal with the Real Madrid record of Iván Zamorano of scoring in five consecutive El Clásico matches.
2015–16: Real Madrid's all-time record goalscorer:
Despite the disappointment of the previous season, Ronaldo expressed publicly that he wanted Carlo Ancelotti as the manager, with whom he had a close relationship, to remain at Real just days before the Italian was sacked by the club, rather than Rafa Benitez coming in to take over. On 29 November, Cristiano scored against Eibar to become the joint-third all-time top goalscorer in La Liga, on 234 goals alongside Mexican striker Hugo Sánchez.
Ronaldo scored four goals in a 7–1 home win over Celta Vigo on 5 March 2016. In doing so, he arrived at 252 La Liga goals, surpassing Telmo Zarra to become the competition's second highest scorer of all time behind Messi.
Negative:
Yes, Ronaldo always wanted to be the best player and without any doubt he would likely to tell that. Many times in the press he said that he is the best and the number of people is not few in number who will agree with him. But Ronaldo seems to be unhappy at a time as he told after a match of LA Liga but soon he was able to resolve the problems and had a good time then in the club.
Ronald is often said to be a selfish player but he he is often mistaken to be a person who is arrogant and full of ego which is not the case. You don't know how much he has always been involved with fund raising programs of NGOs, and has even donated 100,000+ to the hospital in order to help them building a cancer center in his native island Madeira. In addition, he had once sold his golden boot, that he had won in 2011 for 1.5 million. Wan to add that he is also acts as an ambassador to Save the Children and The Mangrove Care Forum in Indonesia.
Comparisons to Lionel Messi:
Both players have scored in two UEFA Champions League finals and have regularly broken the 50 goal barrier in a single season. But the fans of these two great footballer of this age; are always engaged in arguing about who is the best. But some commentators want to spread water by saying them two different types of player. Ronaldo is a winger but Messi is always played as a forward. On the other hand, Ronaldo is sometimes depicted as an arrogant and theatrical showoff, while Messi is portrayed as a shy, humble character.
But there is no doubt that Ronaldo is a great player of this decade and we the fans are really blessed to see his skills in live. Cristiano Ronaldo's national and club team as well as his family is really proud because of him.
